Michael Emerson is Associate Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS), in Brussels, where he works on policy issues concerning Eastern Europe and more broadly European neighbourhood and enlargement issues. He is currently research director of a project reviewing the three Association Agreements and DCFTAs between the EU and Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine supported by the Swedish SIDA - see www.3dcfas.eu.. Michael was formerly an official of the European Commission working on macroeconomic, single market and monetary union issues, before becoming the EU's first ambassador in Moscow to the USSR and then Russia from 1991 to 1995.
